Seashell show in Philadelphia 2012

On October 20-21, 2012, The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University celebrated it’s 30th Philadelphia Shell Show and Festival.
The fun and educational events were run from 10 a.m.to 5 p. m. on Saturday and Sunday. Sponsored by Philadelphia Shell Club and the Academy, the show featured display in judged categories that reflected various interests of shell collecting, from the scientific to the artistic aspects.
Program of the Shell Show included competitive shell displays in a scientific categories with amazing and educational displays with mollusks from around the world. It was a great challenge for serious collectors, scientists and students to compete for prizes and major awards.
In a beautiful Library of the Museum was open the tremendous exhibition for shell artists and crafters. In this huge open space were demonstrated Sailor’s Valentines, seashell mosaics, figurines and another treasures made out of shells in the different competitive categories.
The artists and crafters came to the show from all over America and also even from Japan. On the Festival everyone could purchase shells on the International shell Market and choose for yourself shell jewelry or scientific book.
